Chief Executive Officer
Ian has successfully led multi-disciplinary teams ranging from 1 person to 164 people focused on new play development, asset exploitation, and exploration. Ian has 16 years experience with 10+ years of leadership experience within Reservoir Engineering, Operations, Exploration, and Business Development with Oxy, Dominion/HighMount, CLR, Warwick, and Sherman Energy. Additionally Ian has experience throughout nearly all resource plays in the United States. Ian earned his BS in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University; MBA from University of Oklahoma.
Chief Financial Officer
David has more than 15 years of corporate finance and transaction experience in the energy industry, including private equity and investment banking. Prior to joining Black Swan, David was the Chief Financial Officer of Riley Permian, a private equity backed E&P company. Earlier in his career, David was a Partner at Petro Capital, where he co-managed the E&P activities of the firm. Prior to this, David was an Associate of The Sterling Group, L.P., a private equity firm based in Houston, Texas. David also worked for Bear, Stearns & Co.’s investment banking group. David has earned a MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BBA in accounting and a MS in finance.
Executive Vice President Exploration
Jason has 13 years of technical geologic evaluation and leadership experience across the majority of US Oil and Gas basins. Prior to Black Swan, Jason worked at Chesapeake Energy where he served multiple technical and leadership roles, that most recently included; geologic manager of the Eagle Ford play, manager of the Mid-Continent team, Southern US Exploration manager, and risk capital strategy and exploration advisor. He received a MS Degree in Geology from Utah State University, and a BS degree in Geology from Weber State University, both with an emphasis on structural geology. Jason owned and operated a successful construction company as he was working through his education.
Vice President Business DevelopmentKathy has 35 years of Land and Land Administration experience, with special focus on Business Development and Acquisitions & Divestitures. Prior to joining Black Swan, Kathy served as Director of Land for J. Cleo Thompson where she managed all A&D activity and assembled 70,000 acres in the Midland Basin. Kathy held similar Land and Business Development roles at HighMount Exploration and Production, Dominion Exploration and Production, Louis Dreyfus Natural Gas, and Plains Resources Inc. Kathy has experience in numerous areas, with particular expertise in Permian and Mid-Continent.
Vice President Land
Jeff has spent over 17 years in house at Chesapeake Energy Corporation holding various responsibilities in the land department, most recently as Director of Land Exploration & Business Development. Jeff has experience in numerous areas, including the Mid-Continent, Rockies and Gulf Coast. Jeff holds a BBA in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Oklahoma, is a member of numerous industry organizations, currently serving as the Vice President of the Oklahoma City Association of Professional Landmen.
Andrew has 9+ years experience delineating unconventional opportunities across numerous plays in the Mid-Continent region, Appalachian Basin, and South Texas. Before joining Black Swan, Andrew worked on development and technical evaluations of the Fayetteville, Marcellus, and Eagle Ford Shales for CHK & Pennsylvania General Energy. Most recently, Andrew spent the past 3+ years in Exploration at CHK working Rocky Mountains with an emphasis on the Powder River Basin. He received a BS in Geology from The University of Akron and a MS in Geology from Bowling Green State University.
Senior Reservoir Engineer
Payton has 7+ years industry experience evaluating unconventional opportunities across numerous Mid-Continent and East/South Texas plays. Prior to joining Black Swan, Payton worked in various Exploration, Development and Business Development roles at LINN Energy with focus on the Anadarko Basin, East Texas Basin, Los Angeles Basin, Arkoma Basin, and North Louisiana Salt Basin. Most recently, Payton worked on the Exploration and Development team overseeing LINN's SCOOP/STACK/MERGE assets. Payton earned his BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
Staff Geologic Analyst
Jenifer has 13 years industry experience at Devon, HighMount, and Chesapeake, with most recent experience as Geotechnical Supervisor at Chesapeake. Jenifer has conducted extensive basin mapping; analyzed well performance through characterization studies; built and maintained geologic databases. Jenifer lead data mining efforts around subsurface data at each company, focusing on accuracy and accessibility of valuable data. Jenifer earned her BS in Graphic Design from Oral Roberts University; Certified Petroleum Data Analyst from PPDM.
Staff Data Engineer
Zander has 15 years of data analytic and data management experience focusing on the Oil & Gas industry over the past 7 with IBM, HighMount and Warwick Energy. Zander has successfully led multi-departmental teams focused on data cognizance, data discovery and user adoption of enterprise level data driven solutions. Zander earned his BS in Computer Science with a minor in Business from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.
Staff Engineering Analyst
Jennifer has over 16 years industry experience within Reservoir Engineering, Budgeting & Planning, and Non-Operated Budget Preparation and Well Tracking with Devon, Dominion/HighMount, and Gulfport Energy. Jennifer has extensive experience preparing budgets including 3P modeling, running sensitivities, 5 year forecasting, current year tracking of capital and production with monthly variance analysis. Jennifer earned her BS in Accounting from University of Central Oklahoma; MBA in Finance from Oklahoma City University.
