David brings over 20 years of experience in private equity investing, investment banking advisory, and corporate leadership. He serves as CFO of Black Swan Oil & Gas I & II, where he leverages his expertise to guide strategic planning and financial operations.
For Black Swan Oil & Gas I, David was integral in the acquisition, development and financing of the company’s operated asset in the Midland Basin, which was ultimately sold to Ovintiv in a transaction valued at approx. $2 billion. In addition, David co-founded Black Knight Midstream, establishing a crucial crude gathering system in the basin that remains an asset of Black Swan today.
Prior to joining Black Swan, David led the IPO preparation of Riley Permian (NYSE: REPX) as CFO. While a Partner at Petro Capital, he honed his transaction expertise in the oil & gas industry, closing numerous deals exceeding $2 billion in aggregate value. Prior to this, David was an Associate of The Sterling Group, an operationally focused, non-energy private equity firm based in Houston, that today has more than $4 billion under management. David’s career began at Bear, Stearns & Co.’s investment banking group in its Dallas and New York City offices.
David holds an MBA from the Wharton School (Joseph Wharton Fellow) and a BBA & MS in Accounting & Finance from Texas A&M University. Today, David serves as Trustee for the Heritage Hall School. Previously, he served as President of the Oklahoma City A&M club and Board Director of Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis & Education in Philadelphia.
