Ian serves as Chief Executive Officer of Black Swan Oil & Gas I & II, leveraging over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. His diverse background spans reservoir engineering, private equity investing, and corporate leadership, contributing to strategic growth and commercial success for both Black Swan companies.

Since co-founding Black Swan Oil & Gas I in 2017, the company acquired over 20,000 net acres of operated leasehold and 15,000 net royalty acres in the Midland Basin through more than 100 transactions. Additionally, Ian co-founded Black Knight Midstream, establishing a crucial crude gathering system in the basin. In 2023, Black Swan’s upstream assets were sold to Ovintiv in a transaction valued at approx. $2 billion. Shortly after, Ian co-founded Black Swan Oil & Gas II to continue pursuing investment opportunities in the Permian Basin.

Prior to Black Swan, Ian held leadership roles at various industry leaders including Oxy, Dominion/HighMount, Continental Resources, Warwick Investment Group, and Sherman Energy, gaining extensive experience across nearly every resource play in the United States. He holds an MBA from the University of Oklahoma and a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University.
